The Romanian government invests over two billion euros in the buying and maintenance of 12 hydrogen trains

The government claims that the introduction of electric traction vehicles based on hydrogen fuel cells does not represent a solution for canceling the electrification programs in Romania, but only an ecological alternative to diesel traction transport on the lines not yet electrified.

“Romania makes a priority in the railway field regarding the electrification of the main and complementary railway sectors, based on the benefits related to the higher speeds that can be achieved”, said the governmental officials.
