Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest: Local Commitment, Global Purpose

Sustainable Hospitality in Action: Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest’s Journey Toward a Greener Future

Sustainability is more than a goal for our team: it is a way of operating responsibly, every day. As part of Radisson Hotel Group’s Responsible Business program, our hotel translates global sustainability commitments into tangible, local actions that reduce our environmental footprint while enhancing guest comfort.

Think People, Think Community, Think Planet

Radisson Hotel Group’s Responsible Business framework guides every property in balancing hospitality excellence with environmental care.
Globally, the Group has reduced its carbon footprint per square meter by 35 % since 2019 and continues to advance toward net zero emissions by 2050, supported by science-based targets and circular economy practices. Hotels across the portfolio are implementing Hotel Sustainability Basics, a set of verified sustainability standards designed to ensure responsible operations worldwide.

Local Impact, Global Standards

In Bucharest, these values have taken concrete form.
Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest recently became the first five-star hotel in the city to achieve a BREEAM In-Use “Excellent” certification for both Asset and Management Performance. This recognition places the hotel among Romania’s top performers in sustainable building management, validating efforts to improve energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and responsible resource use across 45,000 square meters of facilities.

The certification reflects years of dedicated investment and collaboration — from updating operational procedures to optimizing technical systems for better energy and water performance. Notably, the hotel’s newly renovated Meetings & Events spaces were designed with energy efficiency in mind, reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 40 tons of CO annually.

Responsible Choices, Everyday

Sustainability here extends beyond infrastructure.

  • We minimize single-use plastics through bulk amenity systems and a closed-loop recycling process aligned with Group initiatives.
  • Our procurement prioritizes local and seasonal products, reducing transport emissions and supporting regional suppliers.
  • Guests are invited to join the journey through our Green Housekeeping program, designed to reduce environmental impact by optimizing cleaning frequency, conserving resources, and supporting responsible operations.
  • Through digital innovations (ex: digital hotel directories) and paperless communication, all relevant sustainability information is easily accessible to guests, empowering them to make informed, eco-conscious choices throughout their stay.
  • Most importantly, our team members are continuously trained to embed responsible thinking into daily operations and guest interactions.

The Path Forward

Radisson Blu Hotel, Bucharest continues to build on this foundation, aligning innovation, guest satisfaction, and sustainability. Our vision is to make every stay both luxurious and responsible, demonstrating that environmental awareness and five-star hospitality can thrive together.

By uniting global standards with local action, we aim to create a lasting positive impact, for our guests, our community and the planet.
