Renault’s new app “Plug Inn” connects EV drivers to private-owned chargers in small French villages to alleviate autonomy anxiety and drive tourism in low traffic rural areas.
The app aims to match two main market needs: catching up with the demand of EV plugins and charging infrastructure, while promoting tourism and driving income towards beautiful areas in need of visitors. While tourists wait for their car to charge, they can spend their money at local shops, cafes and restaurants, turning range anxiety into recharge tourism. The goal: each village to become an electric village, especially as the owners of residential chargers — estimated at over 475,000 – can see in the dashboard of the app the financial perks of offering drivers a juice.
