PPC presents Power BOX – its first fast charging solution in Romania, with storage included, powered by green energy directly from a photovoltaic park

The road to sustainable mobility in Romania just got greener. PPC Blue, part of the PPC group of companies, has unveiled a groundbreaking innovation: the first charging station in Romania powered by renewable energy directly from a photovoltaic park—and it’s available free of charge to all electric vehicle users.

Located on DN5/E70 in Giurgiu County, near Uzunu, the new PPC Blue Power Box is more than a fast-charging station—it’s a vision of the future. With 150 kW charging capacity and the ability to serve two vehicles at once, the station is equipped with a state-of-the-art 250 kWh energy storage system. This ensures reliable, 24/7 access to clean energy, supplied by PPC Renewables Romania’s photovoltaic park in Călugăreni.

“This project is an example of how technology, sustainability, and accessibility can be combined in an innovative way, with direct benefits for users,” said Andreea-Dana Popescu, General Manager of PPC Blue Romania. “We are proud to offer a green, efficient, and free solution at a time when the transition to electric mobility needs courageous initiatives.”

For drivers, the experience is seamless. Integrated directly into the PPC blue app, the Power Box offers Plug & Charge technology—just connect the cable, and charging begins automatically. The app also helps users locate charging stations, plan trips, and choose flexible charging options, from pay-as-you-go to convenient subscription packages like PPC blueLite (60 charging units included), PPC bluePlus (120 charging units included) and PPC blueMax (200 charging units included).

This pilot project is just the beginning of a new strategic direction for PPC blue, which continues to invest in modern and sustainable infrastructure to support the development of electric mobility in Romania.

In Romania, PPC blue operates over 750 charging points in all counties of the country, with a total installed capacity of over 21 MW, and offers integrated electric mobility solutions to residential customers, companies and public institutions across the country.

In 2024, drivers who charged their electric cars at PPC blue stations traveled a total of 10,500,000 km, the equivalent of 262 laps around the Earth, registering an average of 0.20 kWh per km. Following the charging sessions, they contributed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1,700 tonnes/year.

“As a producer of electricity from renewable sources, our mission is to provide customers with clean and sustainable energy,” said Adrian Dugulan, General Manager of PPC Renewables Romania. “The Power Box integrates the entire chain, from photovoltaic production to electric car charging, turning innovation into everyday benefits.”

Whether at shopping centers, hotels, supermarkets, or municipal spaces, PPC Blue’s infrastructure supports not only drivers but also businesses and communities eager to embrace a cleaner future.
