The Auchan Supply Chain Program was launched in 2019 and has been strengthened year after year. Today, behind every product labeled “We Cultivate What’s Best!” lies not only authentic taste and guaranteed quality, but also the story of a local farmer, a supported community, and a value chain built on mutual respect and care for the environment. With nearly 100 active local supply chains and internationally certified products (including Global G.A.P.), Auchan has created one of the most solid models of responsible agriculture in Romania.

A direct connection between customers and local producers

One of the distinctive elements of the Supply Chains is the visibility Auchan offers to producers. In stores, visuals featuring the slogan “We Cultivate What’s Best!” showcase producers through photos and personal stories, transforming a simple choice from the shelf into an act of support for the local community. Thus, the consumer becomes part of an ethical and transparent chain, knowing exactly where the product comes from and how it was cultivated.

Partnerships that bring stability and quality

The Auchan Supply Chains are not limited to supplying stores with local products. They represent an integrated strategy to reduce environmental impact. By shortening supply chains, unnecessary transport is avoided and the carbon footprint is reduced. Local producers are encouraged to adopt regenerative agricultural practices, reduce pesticide use, and protect biodiversity.
The Auchan Supply Chains bring Romanian consumers products from a wide range of categories: fruits and vegetables, meat, dairy, eggs, fish, and grocery items – many of them organic. In 2024, Auchan continued to develop the Supply Chain program, focusing on strengthening partnerships, diversifying local products, and improving quality processes in close collaboration with partner farmers.

Last year, the retailer organized the first edition of the Supply Chain Convention, strengthening partnerships with local producers. During the event, discussions focused both on the benefits offered to local collaborating producers and to consumers who can find local products with controlled traceability on Auchan’s shelves. This year, Auchan continued to expand the Auchan Supply Chain program, reaching nearly 100 Romanian product chains, developed together with over 50 local producers across various food categories.

A model for the future of responsible retail
